“Look tonight at the moon. And think of Neil Armstrong, reluctant hero, the quiet man whose footsteps still rest upon the moon and in history.” –Dan Vergano, USA TODAY
I don’t know how many of you have heard about this, but Neil Armstrong the first man to set foot on the moon died today. He was 82 years old. Armstrong had heart surgery several weeks ago, and a statement from his family said he died following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures.
He was a great man who left his tracks not only on the Moon but on the history of mankind.
Here is an online memorial to Neil Armstrong – please feel free to light a virtual candle or send virtual flowers – Click here.
Rest in Peace Neil Armstrong (1930-2012)
“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
~Neil Armstrong (1969)
I was 13 then, still remember it like yesterday, ok almost….:)
I was in my mother’s womb then…still remember it like it was yesterday….ok I have no memory of that time 😛 haha thanks for your comment. Whether we lived then to remember or not he serves his title and will always be remembered..RIP
Nevermind….. even my mother wasn’t born then lol
You’re quite right! 🙂 it was a good period, at the same time, the first unmanned spaceship went to Mars, and went in orbit, everything seems possible, today is not quite the same, I guess we have to deal with our planet’s problems before thinking going elsewhere…
Aye, had heard he was having complications, and then read yesterday about his death 😦 Very sad. Great and inspiring laddie he was. Miss him. Another hero in the world of science.
Nice post Zahra. I sometimes think about these individuals that shaped history. It makes one realise just how much can be achieved in a life. I wonder if there is a little kid out there somewhere who will go onto to be another history maker like Mr Armstrong?
