We take time for granted

What if we happened to know the day we were to die, to know the last few moments we had left on earth, to appreciate what’s left. We’d live differently wouldn’t we, if we lived as if we were to die tomorrow. We’d hold on to our loved ones, redeem ourselves of our sins, check mark what can be check marked on our bucket list, and appreciate things we disregarded, things we took for granted.  Because life is short, investing in today and thinking about future potential is much more productive than longing for a past gone forever.

Life holds one great but quite commonplace mystery. Though shared by each of us and known to all, seldom rates a second thought. That mystery, which most of us take for granted and never think twice about, is time.

Most of us don’t realize the time we have on this earth is limited, yet we take it for granted. We don’t give enough time to ourselves, our friends, our family, and things that matter most. It is important to focus on what prepares us for the future as well, but who knows if there even is a future in store for you. As James Dean states “Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die tomorrow.”

I for one, tend to live my life spontaneously, I do things as they come at me rather than planning everything out. Sure, I may seem disorganized and messy and lack time management skills, but I choose to disregard it, some of it has to do with being lazy and some of it has to do with the fact that I just don’t care enough. I know I should care about that too and I do but not enough. I want to actually live to enjoy life while I am living it, enjoy the little things. Sometimes while I sit in class my mind tends to wander off to the things I could have been doing rather than listening to my professor lecturing. I look back to my high school years, I learned absolutely nothing. I feel like becoming educated academically throughout school and college takes away a huge chunk of time. And when we reflect back on that time we don’t really reflect on what we learned most of it is forgotten, but the moments we had, the experiences that took place those are memories, those can’t be forgotten. I have learned far more from my experiences than anything else.

Considering everything in hand. I questioned “Does one become smarter or more stupid as life passes by?”, there is no definite answer to this question. However, as I came to the conclusion, I depicted that there are four stages. One being the day you are born, when you are completely clueless, two being your childhood years when you are eager to know everything, and then three being the teenage years of when you think you know everything, and then rest of the years where you reflect on what you really did or do know. Growing older provides one with a sense of reflection, to not repeat yesterday’s mistakes, to live from experiences, and to not take time of what’s left to live for granted. The old are the wise, befriend them and enrich your soul young ones.

Live for today, with no regrets, no worries, take some risks, take advantage of every opportunity you have and most importantly don’t take the time you have today for granted 😉

Inspirational tidbits from Carrie Diaries

I recently started watching “The Carrie Diaries”, an American teen drama television series, and I must say I am really enjoying it so far. It is about a teenage girl, a lot like myself, struggling to move on from her grief of her mother’s death, taking on life’s challenges and experiences the city of Manhattan brings as she is on her journey of becoming a writer as well as a fashionista.

The show starts off with this quote, “They say the key to being a writer is figuring out who you are… finding your own voice”

Chills ran down my spine when I first heard this quote. I knew  right then in my heart that the key to finding out who I am is right in front of me. Putting my thoughts in paper, mapping it all out, exemplifies my true nature and defies who I am as an aspiring writer, entrepreneur, and a risk-taking thrill seeker. My future is yet to be told, my voice is yet to be found. Behold….

“To tell the truth, or create a life for myself I’ve always wanted to live”

Sometimes the truth can wait… but right now it is time to explore life’s riches and future endeavors. Much like the quote by  Bob Marley “Love the life you live, live the life you love”. I have a tendency to drift into my fantasy la la world from time to time, it is what keeps me happy. Life to me is a big adventure and I like to embrace it with open arms.

Here is another quote from the TV series, this is when Carrie encounters her first heartbreak….

“Love is something we wait for, we imagine our first sex, our first kiss, our first I love you, but we never imagine our first heartbreak. Maybe because its too painful to even imagine but in a way the pain of love truly changes us its the losing of love that makes us who we are. Life gets more complicated but also filled with promise and the possibility of opening hearts to new beginnings, new dreams and new places. Things are no longer a fantasy. I’m searching for me: who I was and who I wanted to be.”

This quote is pretty self explanatory and something all of us have witnessed or are witnessing as we go about on our journey.

6 Months!

“The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work.”
~ Oprah Winfrey

I am quite impressed with myself, that I have been maintaining this blog for 6 months now, and many more to come. I am surprised I haven’t given up on it. For me this is a huge deal, because I have a bad habit of going out of practice. I am glad I am finally making some progress with my somewhat routinely effort with this blog. However, I wouldn’t have been able to have gotten so far without the support of my fellow blog readers. Thank you 🙂

2012 in Review (Annual Report)

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,100 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 4 years to get that many views.

“When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when  you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better.”

It makes me really happy to see the golden star in my notification bar and receiving these mini awards. I feel a sense of accomplishment.

It is truly a great feeling.

And also a great boost to continue posting……

Let me breathe

See what losing a pen results to…Take note, don’t loose your pen or you will die!

So here I am back to high school, back to the same daily routine, same school, same people, slightly different schedule, some new teachers, more books, more homework, more tests, more stress, more pressure and soon college applications….. Oh joy! I feel like I am just being chucked at with things to do from every corner so much to juggle and apparently its just the beginning.

Guess what I am thinking … When will it end?! Slow down life, let me breathe please!

Time is going by so fast and barely within my grasp, I am just holding on in hopes of surviving tomorrow and every day that follows. *crossed fingers

Destiny awaits me…..behold!
Good night my fellow blog readers 🙂

How Sweet :)

I was nominated for the “Super Sweet Blogging Award” on August 21, 2012 by blogger Sylvie Ashford, known for her blog River Song. You are so very sweet Sylvie, thank you so much for the award. Fellow bloggers please check out her blog, her poetry is by far amazing. And might as well follow it because I am sure you will be back to read more and it is one blog you don’t want to miss!

The rules for being nominated are as follows:
1. Thank the super sweet blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer five super sweet (and silly) questions.
3. Nominate five super sweet bloggers.

Here are the five super sweet questions:

1. Cookies or cake?
I’m not really fond of cake, I mean cupcakes are nice, but cookies are better, especially warm chocolate chip cookies with milk mmmmmmm……. 🙂

2. Chocolate or vanilla?
Definitely chocolate, you can never have too much!

3. What is your favourite sweet treat?
Hmmm.. that’s a hard one because I don’t really have the taste bud for sweet treats, I am mostly just obsessed with chocolate, so I guess anything chocolatey 😛

4. When do you crave sweet things the most?
I have noticed the more I eat, the more I crave. I have a desperate craving for MnM’s. Desperate times call for desperate measure, that’s why I have an industrial bag of MnM’s so I never run short of them.

5. If you had a sweet nickname, what would it be?
Well apparently my short height really kicks off the cute factor, so I am refered to as “lil lady”. I don’t know if I really like it though, I get pretty annoyed when someone says something about my height especially because I am really not that short.

Congratulations to my super sweet nominees for the “Super Sweet Blogging Award”:

1. Tapish Gupta. He was one of my first few followers, and super sweet and welcoming in the blogger network. His blog Life of 24 hours is pretty sweet, check it out!

2. Prashant Singh Thakur. Another one of my first few followers that welcomed me with open arms. Check out his blog Just Spoken Thoughts and I guarantee you will be caught up in his thoughts.

3. Autumn Jade Faulkner. His super sweet comments, his extensive vocabulary, eye catching photography and poetry are by far breathtaking. Trust me you will surely get lost when you take a step in A Day in the Brine.

4. Amyth Banerjee. Be sure to get mystified and stay mystified when you aimlessly wander off into the world of Mythbroakia.

5.  Gabbie Leung. A clever girl only 14 years of age, don’t dare underestimate her writing, check out her blog When will my life begin?.

Congratulations to all of you!!
