We take time for granted

What if we happened to know the day we were to die, to know the last few moments we had left on earth, to appreciate what’s left. We’d live differently wouldn’t we, if we lived as if we were to die tomorrow. We’d hold on to our loved ones, redeem ourselves of our sins, check mark what can be check marked on our bucket list, and appreciate things we disregarded, things we took for granted. ¬†Because life is short, investing in today and thinking about future potential is much more productive than longing for a past gone forever.

Life holds one great but quite commonplace mystery. Though shared by each of us and known to all, seldom rates a second thought. That mystery, which most of us take for granted and never think twice about, is time.

Most of us don’t realize the time we have on this earth is limited, yet we take it for granted. We don’t give enough time to ourselves, our friends, our family, and things that matter most. It is important to focus on what prepares us for the future as well, but who knows if there even is a future in store for you. As James Dean states “Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die tomorrow.”

I for one, tend to live my life spontaneously, I do things as they come at me rather than planning everything out. Sure, I may seem disorganized and messy and lack time management skills, but I choose to disregard it, some of it has to do with being lazy and some of it has to do with the fact that I just don’t care enough. I know I should care about that too and I do but not enough. I want to actually live to enjoy life while I am living it, enjoy the little things. Sometimes while I sit in class my mind tends to wander off to the things I could have been doing rather than listening to my professor lecturing. I look back to my high school years, I learned absolutely nothing. I feel like becoming educated academically throughout school and college takes away a huge chunk of time. And when we reflect back on that time we don’t really reflect on what we learned most of it is forgotten, but the moments we had, the experiences that took place those are memories, those can’t be forgotten. I have learned far more from my experiences than anything else.

Considering everything in hand. I questioned “Does one become smarter or more stupid as life passes by?”, there is no definite answer to this question. However, as I came to the conclusion, I depicted that there are four stages. One being the day you are born, when you are completely clueless, two being your childhood years when you are eager to know everything, and then three being the teenage years of when you think you know everything, and then rest of the years where you reflect on what you really did or do know. Growing older provides one with a sense of reflection, to not repeat yesterday’s mistakes, to live from experiences, and to not take time of what’s left to live for granted. The old are the wise, befriend them and enrich your soul young ones.

Live for today, with no regrets, no worries, take some risks, take advantage of every opportunity you have and most importantly don’t take the time you have today for granted ūüėČ

Things aren’t always what they seem to be at first glance.

We have probably all seen an email or blog post with some funny but wrong answers kids have offered on tests.  One of the most famous is this:

Recently was sent a few that I have not seen before, including this one.

This answer left the teach a bit concerned about the mother’s influence on her child.

As it turns out the child was drawing a picture of her mother with a snow shovel at her workplace Home Depot.

The moral of the story is that we should be careful about being too literal (as in the first example) and remember that appearance can be deceiving (as in the second).

This is one of the many things people don’t often realize, things aren’t always what they seem, so stop making judgments when you don’t know the truth. You can’t depict anything from what is in front of you so it is best to believe in what the person is trying to say. Of ten words are¬†deceiving¬†and things are easily misunderstood and led to making assumptions. Avoid being so ignorant and look beyond what is in front of you and just try to understand.

Float baby Float

If you never challenge yourself, youll never know ¬†what your capable of accomplishing and how far you can go. I know how huge and overwhelming fear can be and how planning out every detail makes it contract but one day youll realize that fear just comes from a projection of what might be, what could be, what better not be, instead of what is. And what is is now, what is is you and your too buoyant to drown, lean back and trust the water, the current may be strong but once you take control you can flow with the current and let it guide you to places you never even imagined. Believe in yourself and new doors will open. Have faith, leave your fears behind, and just listen to your heart. Everything happens for a reason, and eventually things will fall into place as long as you keep an open mind. Soon your dreams will turn into reality all you need to do is just trust the water and float baby float….
