We take time for granted

What if we happened to know the day we were to die, to know the last few moments we had left on earth, to appreciate what’s left. We’d live differently wouldn’t we, if we lived as if we were to die tomorrow. We’d hold on to our loved ones, redeem ourselves of our sins, check mark what can be check marked on our bucket list, and appreciate things we disregarded, things we took for granted.  Because life is short, investing in today and thinking about future potential is much more productive than longing for a past gone forever.

Life holds one great but quite commonplace mystery. Though shared by each of us and known to all, seldom rates a second thought. That mystery, which most of us take for granted and never think twice about, is time.

Most of us don’t realize the time we have on this earth is limited, yet we take it for granted. We don’t give enough time to ourselves, our friends, our family, and things that matter most. It is important to focus on what prepares us for the future as well, but who knows if there even is a future in store for you. As James Dean states “Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die tomorrow.”

I for one, tend to live my life spontaneously, I do things as they come at me rather than planning everything out. Sure, I may seem disorganized and messy and lack time management skills, but I choose to disregard it, some of it has to do with being lazy and some of it has to do with the fact that I just don’t care enough. I know I should care about that too and I do but not enough. I want to actually live to enjoy life while I am living it, enjoy the little things. Sometimes while I sit in class my mind tends to wander off to the things I could have been doing rather than listening to my professor lecturing. I look back to my high school years, I learned absolutely nothing. I feel like becoming educated academically throughout school and college takes away a huge chunk of time. And when we reflect back on that time we don’t really reflect on what we learned most of it is forgotten, but the moments we had, the experiences that took place those are memories, those can’t be forgotten. I have learned far more from my experiences than anything else.

Considering everything in hand. I questioned “Does one become smarter or more stupid as life passes by?”, there is no definite answer to this question. However, as I came to the conclusion, I depicted that there are four stages. One being the day you are born, when you are completely clueless, two being your childhood years when you are eager to know everything, and then three being the teenage years of when you think you know everything, and then rest of the years where you reflect on what you really did or do know. Growing older provides one with a sense of reflection, to not repeat yesterday’s mistakes, to live from experiences, and to not take time of what’s left to live for granted. The old are the wise, befriend them and enrich your soul young ones.

Live for today, with no regrets, no worries, take some risks, take advantage of every opportunity you have and most importantly don’t take the time you have today for granted 😉

Inspirational tidbits from Carrie Diaries

showposter

I recently started watching “The Carrie Diaries”, an American teen drama television series, and I must say I am really enjoying it so far. It is about a teenage girl, a lot like myself, struggling to move on from her grief of her mother’s death, taking on life’s challenges and experiences the city of Manhattan brings as she is on her journey of becoming a writer as well as a fashionista.

The show starts off with this quote, “They say the key to being a writer is figuring out who you are… finding your own voice”

Chills ran down my spine when I first heard this quote. I knew  right then in my heart that the key to finding out who I am is right in front of me. Putting my thoughts in paper, mapping it all out, exemplifies my true nature and defies who I am as an aspiring writer, entrepreneur, and a risk-taking thrill seeker. My future is yet to be told, my voice is yet to be found. Behold….

“To tell the truth, or create a life for myself I’ve always wanted to live”

Sometimes the truth can wait… but right now it is time to explore life’s riches and future endeavors. Much like the quote by  Bob Marley “Love the life you live, live the life you love”. I have a tendency to drift into my fantasy la la world from time to time, it is what keeps me happy. Life to me is a big adventure and I like to embrace it with open arms.

Here is another quote from the TV series, this is when Carrie encounters her first heartbreak….

“Love is something we wait for, we imagine our first sex, our first kiss, our first I love you, but we never imagine our first heartbreak. Maybe because its too painful to even imagine but in a way the pain of love truly changes us its the losing of love that makes us who we are. Life gets more complicated but also filled with promise and the possibility of opening hearts to new beginnings, new dreams and new places. Things are no longer a fantasy. I’m searching for me: who I was and who I wanted to be.”

This quote is pretty self explanatory and something all of us have witnessed or are witnessing as we go about on our journey.

Toss a coin in the air and suddenly you’ll know what you want

When you need to make a difficult decision between two things, try this, it actually works!

Happy Friday :)

Happy Friday, my fellow blog readers 🙂
Life is like a roller coaster. It has its ups and downs. But it’s your choice to scream or enjoy the ride. I like to do both, so your ears would be filled with screams of joy 😛

A sudden realization

20121124-115414.jpg

During the past few weeks a lot has changed, and I am not the same person I used to be. I have matured, transgressed and have had many realizations that shape me to be who I am today. I realized how blessed I am, I realized how much my family loves and cares for me, and I realized who my true friends are. I am going through a very important time at life where my decisions impact my future and I have to make sure that in order to become successful I need to take control and I need to make the right choices and stand up for myself. I need to be strong, fearless, passionate and determined. I can’t let anyone or anything in my way bring me down, because I am the one in control.

There is an ancient Chinese belief about an invisible thread that connects to those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break.

May my fellow blog readers and everyone out there be open to each thread that comes into his/her life, the golden ones and the coarse ones, and may him/her weave them into a brilliant and beautiful life.

Take control of your life and make sure to enjoy the journey of creating yourself. Your future is to be told, behold.

Dreams Do Come True

Lost in my own world,

In my thoughts unfurled.

Going through a phase,

An endless chase,

To find me myself and I,

At least before I die.

All I need is a friend,

To be with me till’ the very end.

I feel so heartless,

My quest relentless.

How did I sink so deep,

Just by falling asleep.

Tonight is the night,

In which i’d shine so bright,

Gleaming upon the twilight.

And once my dreams become reality,

Time will change in actuality.

And I won’t have to bury myself in any more thoughts of sorrow,

Because I plan to live life like there is no tomorrow.

Happiness awaits me and you,

Trust me, dreams do come true.

This world, its a beautiful place,

Extend your arms and embrace.

Spread your wings and fly,

Shine bright into the starry night sky.

Just take a chance,

Go out and dance.

Allow yourself to let go,

Change that ego.

Life is what you make of it,

So don’t waste it, don’t quit.

Enjoy all beauty and galore,

There is so much more.

Happiness awaits me and you,

Believe me, dreams do come true.
